Nick Bonino Stays at Olimpija for the 2025/26 Season
Hockey Club Olimpija Ljubljana announces that Nick Bonino will continue to wear the dragon on his chest next season. The experienced American forward, a two-time NHL champion and one of the key players for Olimpija last season, remains an important part of the ambitious story the club is building.
Nick Bonino has played in over 800 NHL games, where he won two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also served as captain of the U.S. national team at the World Championship and is renowned for his outstanding hockey skills, on-ice intelligence, and ability to perform in the most critical moments.
In the upcoming season, Bonino will take on an even more significant role within the team, both on the ice and in the locker room. His experience, winning mentality, and unwavering dedication to hockey will be an invaluable source of motivation for the younger players.
“My family and I feel great in Ljubljana. The club has a clear vision and an ambitious plan that inspires me. I want to be part of this chapter and help the team both on and off the ice,” Bonino said upon signing his new contract.
Bonino’s renewed commitment to Olimpija is a major recognition of the club’s work and a clear message about its bold plans to become the leading hockey organization in the region.
Anže Ulčar, CEO of HK Olimpija Ljubljana, said: “Bones proved from the start, by deciding to join Olimpija, that he’s someone who trusts his instincts. Those instincts turned out to be right, as he feels at home in Ljubljana and wants to continue building our story. He has proven to be a very reliable player who steps up in decisive moments and leads the team with his calmness. I was especially impressed with his attitude during the national championship finals, where he demonstrated complete professionalism and dedication, and was the best individual player on our team.”
