Upi Karhula is no longer the coach of Olimpija Ljubljana
The management of the Olimpija Ljubljana hockey club has decided to terminate its cooperation with the team’s head coach, Upi Karhula, due to the team’s poor form and a series of losses. The club sincerely thanks Upi for his work during nearly two years of collaboration.
Miha Butara, club president:
“The results following the international break have been extremely disappointing. Two wins and twelve losses are not in line with our goals. Many games were lost by a narrow margin, and we hoped the coach would be able to get us back on the right track. We had many discussions and looked for the right solutions, but unfortunately, the recent games showed that Upi wouldn’t be able to reverse the trend. We thank Upi for his work. During our nearly two years together, much good work was accomplished.
We are currently in talks with three reputable coaches, and we believe their knowledge and experience will help achieve the club’s objectives. Our goal is for the new coach to take over the team before the end of 2024. Until the new coach is appointed, the team will be led by Andrej Tavželj.”
